Father Anton Medej, SCJ

I belong to the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Betharram. Betharram is a small village and shrine to Our Lady about nine miles outside of Lourdes.  Many people have heard of the Grottos of Betharram, but not so many about the shrine where our founder St Michael Garicoits brought our Congregation into being.

Older Children’s Liturgy Group Rota: The new rota for autumn 2018 – summer 2019 is now available. See the church.notice board.

Church Cleaning at Clayton: We urgently need 2 people to join one of the cleaning teams. Your team will only need to clean once every 6 weeks. Please speak to Rosalind Hartley on 01782 639421 or Sharon Bunting in the parish office if you are able to help.

North Staffs Food Bank: The Foodbank are in need of more items over the summer months especially: long life juice, long life milk, washing liquid/powder, tinned fruit, sugar, rice pudding, sponge puddings, chocolate and tinned custard powder. There is a box provided in the porch if you would like to donate any items.

North Staffs LinkLine: Could you help us and join our other “Friends on the Phone”. We need volunteers to help us with this valuable service for older people and make a difference to their lives.

Can you spare 3 hours a week, particularly on a Friday Morning? Even if you can’t commit to every week but feel you would like to help please come and talk to us. There are volunteers at every mass who can tell you more about what it is like or you can contact Sue McKenna on Tel 710436, email sue@nslinkline.org.uk or leave you details with the Parish Office.

Pilgrimage of the Sick to the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes (Sunday 16th September)

There will be a Pilgrimage led by Bishop Robert Byrne for all those who are sick, their families and carers, Chaplains and Chaplaincy Volunteers and Healthcare Workers and Volunteers. To take place at 3 pm on Sunday 16th September at the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Hednesford.

(Saturday 22nd September)

An invitation to any former parishioners, members of staff and pupils of the school to a Mass marking the 80th Anniversary of foundation as a parish community and opening of the school. On Saturday 22nd September 12 noon.

Prayer Vigil for the Care of Creation (Tuesday 18th September)

Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newcastle, invites you to join them for a Prayer Vigil for the Care of Creation followed by the film “Global Healing”: On Tuesday 18th September 2018 at 7pm. This event is part of our observance of Creation Time; 1st September to 4th October. For further information contact Phil Mayland on 01782 660229.

Potteries Theological Society (Tuesday 18th September)

The next meeting is on Tuesday 18th September at 7pm in room CM0.012 in the Moser building. The first meeting is on the theme “The Church and the Environment”.

Healing Mass (25th September)

On Tuesday 25th September at Holy Trinity, Newcastle at 2.00 pm. Refreshments in the parish centre after Mass.
