Our Lady & St Werburgh Church Groups
Welcome to the Church Groups Section. Our Lady and St Werburgh runs several activity groups including a excellent parent's and toddlers group, a great youth club for all ages, a senior citizens club and a Journey Of Faith Group.
The parent and toddler group meet every Wednesday of term-time between 10.00 am and 11.30 am.
The group provides a safe, informal environment for parents/carers and pre-school children and babies to meet, play and socialise.
The usual format includes free playtime, creative play at the art table, snack time and the session generally ends with organised songs and rhymes.
Meeting Times: Wednesday at 10.00 until 11.30am.

Two youth groups continue to meet every other Thursday during term-time.
The number of the older group has greatly increased which is great.
We provide a varied programme, from games evenings, quizzes, craft evenings, X-Factor, hobbies and interest collections, a beach party and recently Stations of the Cross.
The youth groups have helped at both the summer and winter fayres.
Meeting Times: Every other Thursday during term-time.

The concept of children’s liturgy is to bring the Word of God, ‘The Gospel’ to the children at their level and to enable them to understand the relevance of the gospels in their lives today.
We have 2 groups. The older group is for school age children starting at about 4 ½ years of age to about 9 years old.
The younger group is for toddlers from 2 years to 4 ½ years.
With the older group is an adult teacher and a helper – no need for parents to come up.
The younger group needs an adult with each child – preferably not the same adult each week. Adults need their chance to develop their faith by listening to the Gospel and the Sermons too.
Meeting Times: Every Sunday 10.00am Mass.

The music ministry continues to play an important role in our weekly worship at Clayton.
We are grateful to John Hartley for his on-going dedication in playing the organ at the 8:15 mass.
A number of members of our parish have offered their gifts to support this important ministry. Our thanks go to Dan Tierney, Francois Rouffet, Alice Lam and Michelle Tierney.
Meeting Times: Every Sunday 10.00am Mass

The Over 55’s Friendship Club meets in the Parish Hall on Thursday afternoons from 1.00-3.00pm during school term times. The entrance charge is £1, which includes the activity/entertainment for the afternoon, a ticket for the weekly prize raffle, and afternoon refreshments. The friendship club has a lovely welcoming, friendly and happy atmosphere and is a great way to make new friends, or join other Parish friends for an enjoyable afternoon out. We are always delighted to welcome new members to the club, and Patricia Whitehurst and Cath Bagnall who run the Club, extend a warm invitation to any Parishioners who may be interested in joining to come along at 1.00pm on any Thursday afternoon during school term time. They would be delighted to meet you and provide you with any further information you would like to know.
In December 2015 the Club was delighted to celebrate its 10th birthday anniversary. The Club members enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of celebrations to mark this special occasion, and we look forward to many more happy years of being a part of the wonderful parish community of Our Lady and St Werburgh.
Over the past year the members have spent their club afternoons enjoying a variety of activities, guest speakers, and entertainers. Alongside a diverse range of guest visitors to the club, we have continued to hold our afternoons of dancing, games afternoons, fun team quizzes, and our book and DVD film libraries. As in previous years we have been pleased to take part in parish initiatives including the Christmas shoebox appeal and Lenten appeal. The Parish Senior Citizen Christmas Party was once again thoroughly enjoyed by Club members. The Over 55’s Friendship Club looks forward to the continuance throughout 2016 of our community afternoons and coming together in Faith and friendship.
Meeting Times: Every Thursday 1.00pm - 3pm in the Church Hall.

Two House Groups have been going strong in the parish for just over seven years. One group meets at the Hartleys’ house, the other at Joan Master’s house. The groups meet about six or seven times a year. Each group has around nine members. The groups meet, above all, in friendship.
